Cluster of Differentiation 86 (CD86), which is also referred to as B7-2, is a ...co-stimulatory molecule found on antigen-presenting cells. Autoimmunity, transplantation, and cancer immunity hold significant importance. A variation in CD86 can lead to the dysfunction of immune cells, resulting in subsequent systemic inflammatory reactions. CD86 plays a significant role in facilitating the activation of T cells during an immune response. The absence of CD86 may result in the inactivation of T cells and their inability to respond to tumor cells, which ultimately enables the cancer to advance.
